NPT TV ist eine Gruppe Jugendlicher, die sich für eine Welt ohne Atomwaffen engagieren. Atomwaffen? Richtig. Obwohl sie uns immer weniger in der täglichen Berichterstattung begegnen, gibt es immer noch mehr als 23.000 Atombomben, ein immenses Zerstörungspotenzial und ein nicht zu akzeptierendes Risiko, gerade in Zeiten des globalen Terrorismus. Die Abrüstung von Atomwaffen bedeutet einen großen Schritt hin zur friedlichen Beilegung von Konflikten und geht Hand in Hand mit vertrauensbildender zwischenstaatlicher Zusammenarbeit zur gemeinsamen Bewältigung globaler Probleme. Wir als Jugendliche, die nicht im Schatten des kalten Krieges aufgewachsen sind und ein Zeichen setzen wollen, dass wir nicht das Erbe heutiger Atomwaffenarsenale anzutreten gedenken. Deshalb müssen wir uns noch stärker für eine atomwaffenfreie Welt einsetzen und noch deutlicher als bisher konkrete Schritte zur Abrüstung aller Atomwaffen von politischen Entscheidungsträgern einfordern. Durch verständliche, multimediale und kritische Live-Berichterstattung von den entscheidenden Abrüstungsverhandlungen und Bildungsarbeit in Schulen und Universitäten wollen wir über Fortschritte und Hindernisse nuklearer Abrüstung informieren und eine breite Öffentlichkeit für eine Welt ohne Atomwaffen begeistern. Was wir tun: Seit 2004 nehmen wir an den jährlichen Konferenzen des Atomwaffensperrvertrages (Non-Proliferation Treaty - NPT, daher NPT TV) teil, dem wichtigsten Forum nuklearer Abrüstungs-verhandlungen. Vor Ort interviewen wir Botschafter, Diplomaten, Think Tank Analysten und Vertreter von Nichtregierungsorganisationen zu Fortgang und Hintergründen der Verhandlungen und schaffen so auf unserer Website ein täglich aktualisiertes, zugängliches und stetig wachsendes Informationsportal.
